a work in progress...

So, I've been dragging this little WIP all around my house for the last few weeks. It takes a bit longer to make these EPP hexies since I am using 5 inch fabric squares (Simply Color by V and CO.) and it requires more thread (therefore more re-threading of the needle) and more time to piece. I cut out some 2 inch hexagons using my silhouette. I plan on making this into a pillow. I might even hand quilt as well. Maybe with some colorful aurifil?! Hope to finish this before September.

  1. Funny.. I just started a hexagon project yesterday too with the exact same fabric and 2" as well!! It's a slow process but I think it's worth it! I'm OBSESSED with these hexies!!

    2. I can't decide if I want to use it as a block in a quilt or turn it into a pillow..

    3. I think either way would be great (obviously;) but so curious what you have in mind as a block in a quilt! Go big or go home, right? Haha --- please ignore my peer pressure.

  2. Lovely hexies -- I never had the patience for EPP but it does make a great showcase for those wonderful fabrics!

    1. I thought I didn't either, but it's great for when I can't get to my machine but need some creative sewing time in my day. Otherwise, I get cranky. Lol.

  3. Love the hexies. I was silly enough to do small hexies - mine take 2 1/2 inch squares of fabric. Next time I going bigger. Love your fabric choices so far.

  5. Are the hexies always handsewn? I don't know much about making them, but it looks like a LOT of work.

    1. You can do them on the sewing matchine with doing y-seams. Or do half-hexies. These are by hand and done on the go or like me entirely on the couch. I like to do it while the girls are playing or watching tv. Guess its better than wasting time on FB. Lol.

  6. I just starting epp too. I really joy it and didn't
T think I would. I'm doing the one inch size that requires a 2.5 inch square. I think it's the perfect size for me, I'm trying to only use my scraps though.

  7. Your hexies are lovely! I have a layer cake of Simply Color by V and CO, but haven't figured out just yet what I want to do with them. Love the saturated color.
