Star Surround top complete...NOT!

I am just sick about this....

Star Surround Pieced Oops

Can you see my mistake?

Here was the layout and the picture I used to piece and somehow I goofed.
Star Surround Pieced Oops

I even did a photo shoot of the top and didn't notice it. I think that's the most disappointing part! I sneaked outside to take a picture while the relishes ate breakfast, uploaded the pictures, edited them AND then noticed it. I am deciding if I should waste my sewing time today dealing with this or just call it a week and work on it next week. Such a bummer! I am going to link up today anyway and keep it real. I did just get a new seam ripper.....

It sure is pretty, though!

  1. Oh, I hate it when that happens. Although I totally agree, it looks absolutely beautiful as it is!!! At least you have a new seam ripper, that makes it so much quicker!!

  2. I think sometimes we are our own worst critics. Honestly it took me about 5 minutes of looking to see the error! I felt like one of those find Waldo pages LOL . It does look beautiful..either way.

    1. I totally agree! I knew it looked fine but knew it would always bother me if I didn't fix. Haha..thats why i did a before/after pic...make it a game! I already fixed it too! Patience is NOT a strong suit. Now, I get to marinate on it to decide how the heck I'm going to quilt it. :)

  3. Oh no Melissa. Too bad nobody noticed it was laid out wrong when you posted it in pieces. It goes to show you it isn't real noticeable. Even so, It sure is pretty!

  4. I didn't notice it until I compared the two pics. I wouldn't worry about it, unless you want to test drive that new seam ripper!

  7. So frustrating! It took me a while to find it. Based on the comments ahead of me, I know you fixed it. I'm glad you did so that you can be proud of your work. I know it would have bugged me to no end knowing that those 2 squares were switched. :)

    1. Thank you, Whit! It's the two blocks on the second to last row next to the orange flying geese. They needed to be switched. I actually just seam ripped around each of the two blocks and switched. It went back together pretty perfect so that was a relief. Thanks for the visit!

    1. You go girl! I caught it because the color spacing seemed too yellow in that corner. I did the blank stare to check out the color blending and noticed it. Thanks for playing along!

  12. I had to do some serious searching to find this....I was starting to wonder if mine was right, lol! Sounds like you already fixed it, but it would have been fine. Especially since it has a scrappy look to it. Really love the colors:)

    1. haha...im sorry Wendy! It's really not that awful or obvious, it just bugged me. Each of the corners of the quilt should have three separate squares and instead there are two of the same kind on the bottom of the quilt, second to last row (first picture). Hope that helps. Thanks for playing along...lol!
