Star Surround top complete...NOT!
I am just sick about this....
Can you see my mistake?
Here was the layout and the picture I used to piece and somehow I goofed.
I even did a photo shoot of the top and didn't notice it. I think that's the most disappointing part! I sneaked outside to take a picture while the relishes ate breakfast, uploaded the pictures, edited them AND then noticed it. I am deciding if I should waste my sewing time today dealing with this or just call it a week and work on it next week. Such a bummer! I am going to link up today anyway and keep it real. I did just get a new seam ripper.....
It sure is pretty, though!

Oh, I hate it when that happens. Although I totally agree, it looks absolutely beautiful as it is!!! At least you have a new seam ripper, that makes it so much quicker!!
ReplyDeleteIt actually didn't take too long to fix and my new ripper was a dream. :)
DeleteI think sometimes we are our own worst critics. Honestly it took me about 5 minutes of looking to see the error! I felt like one of those find Waldo pages LOL . It does look beautiful..either way.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree! I knew it looked fine but knew it would always bother me if I didn't fix. Haha..thats why i did a before/after pic...make it a game! I already fixed it too! Patience is NOT a strong suit. Now, I get to marinate on it to decide how the heck I'm going to quilt it. :)
DeleteI know..I am already stewing about how to do the quilting !!
DeleteOh no Melissa. Too bad nobody noticed it was laid out wrong when you posted it in pieces. It goes to show you it isn't real noticeable. Even so, It sure is pretty!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I decided to fix it today otherwise I would annoy myself all day :) thanks for visiting me!
DeleteI didn't notice it until I compared the two pics. I wouldn't worry about it, unless you want to test drive that new seam ripper!
ReplyDeleteHaha..already fixed it! Couldn't carry on with my day otherwise. Luckily it was a quick switch of two blocks and took 30 mins. Thanks for stopping by!!
DeleteOh..that was fun trying to find it! Beautiful quilt!
ReplyDeleteThanks Debbie! Haha....glad I could make it fun!
DeleteI too had to stare at it for quite some time, and it is beautiful either way!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kira! Just making sure everyone's mind is kept sharp! lol
DeleteSo frustrating! It took me a while to find it. Based on the comments ahead of me, I know you fixed it. I'm glad you did so that you can be proud of your work. I know it would have bugged me to no end knowing that those 2 squares were switched. :)
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm glad I fixed it and was fairly quick! Thanks for feeling my pain with me! :)
DeleteI think it is beautiful..i still can't find the mistake!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Whit! It's the two blocks on the second to last row next to the orange flying geese. They needed to be switched. I actually just seam ripped around each of the two blocks and switched. It went back together pretty perfect so that was a relief. Thanks for the visit!
DeleteIt took me forever to find your mistake (and I'm not even sure I really did!). I clicked over from Melissa's page to tell you that this is insanely pretty. I would hang it on my wall in a heartbeat. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Catherine! I am in love with it too! I just knew that if I didn't fix it them my eyes would always be drawn to my mistake. Just like Flo said above, "we are our own worst critics." Thanks for stopping by and letting me know that you like it!
DeleteJust like eveyone else, I had to stare at my screen for a little while to even find your mistake! Good on you to fix it though, especially if it was going to bug you. It really does look pretty. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Izzy! I didn't notice it at first either so I knew it wasn't that big of a deal. I am glad I fixed it, too. Thanks for the visit and comment! :)
DeleteHmmm, my eye went right to it. Something must be wrong with me! LOL Good thing you caught it before it was all quilted!!! It sure is pretty.
ReplyDeleteYou go girl! I caught it because the color spacing seemed too yellow in that corner. I did the blank stare to check out the color blending and noticed it. Thanks for playing along!
DeleteI had to do some serious searching to find this....I was starting to wonder if mine was right, lol! Sounds like you already fixed it, but it would have been fine. Especially since it has a scrappy look to it. Really love the colors:)
ReplyDeleteMy first thought....girl, what are you doing up sooo early?! But thank you for your sweet comment. haha!
DeleteWow, i seriously just sat here for ten minutes trying to find the mistake! And even with the mistake it's still gorgeous!
ReplyDeletehaha...yes it a little game of spot the difference! thank you so much...I am really excited to get this beauty finished.
DeleteNo, I can't find it! I've been staring at it for ages and comparing the two pictures and I jsut can't find it!
ReplyDeletehaha...im sorry Wendy! It's really not that awful or obvious, it just bugged me. Each of the corners of the quilt should have three separate squares and instead there are two of the same kind on the bottom of the quilt, second to last row (first picture). Hope that helps. Thanks for playing along...lol!
DeleteOoops! It's still beautiful! And it happens to everyone once in a while. And to be fair... It did take me a while to catch it, too!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful star Melissa. Gorgeous colours. Thanks for sharing.
