stashing
I have received some lovely fabric in the mail lately and while I would love to participate in the Sunday Stash link party, I never have my butt in gear during the weekend to muster up a fabric post. So a day late and dollar short. I really do love looking at pretty pictures of fabric. It usually gets me in trouble because I end up buying so if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. You're welcome.
A few weeks ago, I got some gorgeous Nordika in and I'm still deciding what I want to make with them. I'm sure a quilt, but nothing has screamed at me as a potential mate. I will let them sit pretty waiting for their pattern suitor to arrive...haha! If you have any thoughts, please feel free to comment or send me an email.
I also got some handsome Parson Gray's Curious Nature to make a man quilt for Mr. Relish. I shared the pathetic first attempts at quilting here if you would like to see. There is also time to link up your first quilt. It's like a sleep over and everyone is spilling the beans about their "first time." I didn't take any fancy pictures of the fabric because I had to hide it from Mr. Relish since his man quilt is a surprise.
Next up is...
ACADIA! There really isn't much to say about this fabric other than OH! MY! GOODNESS! So many possibilities!
And lastly, I had an impulse by last week and bought the Fat Quarter Shop's 12lb box of scraps. I really didn't know what to expect but I documented the unveiling...
There were some gems in there. Let me tell you. But there were some duds. Overall I am happy and will feel less guilty about tearing into these scraps for projects such as paper piecing or for practice. I already separated the duds from the keepers and will use those for my sewing class for the students to practice on.
That is all I have and have reached me fabric budget for the month of September and it was worth every. single. penny.

I love Nordika and it's at the top of my wish list. I can't wait to see it in person! Is it as bright and colorful as all the pictures online look? I had 2 patterns in mind, and now they slipped out the door on me. I need to start writing things down, or quit looking at so many quilts, HA!

ReplyDeleteI love buying scrap packs, though you really never do know what you're going to get! (And of course, I don't think I've ever bought more than 1lb of scraps at a time - shipping to Canada is ridic.)
ReplyDeleteI have a bag of fabric that are my uglies and not-my-taste-anymores and that sort of thing. And I keep telling myself I'm going to donate them to this quilt store that makes sensory quilts (and would hide a lot of the ugly under interesting feeling bits and bobs and trims), but I've never quite dragged it down there, and so it tends to wind up being practise fabric - practising free motion quilting, trying out applique and freezer paper processes and that sort of thing.
Anyway, I got distracted. I was going to say that Fat Quarter shop scraps would make me more nervous than some stores just because they kind of stock everything, not just things that are loosely defined as modern (and thus more likely to be things I'll appreciate). As long as you got more that you like than that you don't, though!
what a great stash of fabrics, did not know that scrap bags could be bought but living in the UK postage can be very expensive. Wonder what size the scrap pieces are?
ReplyDeleteI keep seeing everyone adding to their stash, and I totally caved in and bought some fabric. I am definitely over budget. I really want to buy online, but I don't want to wait on it to get here. I saw the scrap box too. I was wondering how much of it would be something that I would like and use. I loved the glasses though.
