International Quilt Festival or Bust....
Hey Y'all! Guess where I went this past weekend? Yep, you totally got the first clue in the title...INTERNATIONAL QUILT FESTIVAL! -- Picture Overload Warning --
Mr. Relish and I drove down from Dallas and spent the weekend there for a belated anniversary weekend and he took me to the festival with absolutely no whining and even carried my bags! I know...he's a keeper! I just made sure I fed him well all weekend and that usually keeps him pretty content!
We drove down on Friday while my mom watched the relishes and stayed at a fantastic B&B located downtown in the Midtown area. It was fairly new but had a French vintage vibe going. I highly recommend La Maison in Midtown to anyone visiting!
Saturday morning, after breakfast, we headed over to the convention center and took our place in line...
This place isbig giant GINORMOUS! I didn't even get to see every single booth! I was able to spend all of my fabric budget for the rest of the year but it was worth every penny!
Check out my loot!
Mr. Relish even let me buy the EQ7 software! I wished there were more modern quilting booths but I was still able to leave with a nice little stash. I also found some vintage feed sack fabrics!
I got me some Aurifil! And won a spool to boot!
And some Soft and Sable by Annie. I've been itching to try this stuff out and now have three patterns to test it out on. I even got to talk to Annie a bit about how awesome her product is! Stay tuned!
Oh, and this seam allowance gauge is really cool and I'll have to show that off later too! It's from Sew Steady...
Now to share some of my favorite quilts that were on display or entered, starting with, Best in Show...

Nice haul! Jealous! :)
ReplyDeleteI know! I'm still coming off my shopping spree high.
DeleteSounds like you had a wonderful time... I'm super jealous! And a men's lounge? Too funny! :-)
ReplyDeleteWe really did! The lounge really was funny....they were all asleep or watching football. Ha!
DeleteMelissa! I loved seeing all of your photos! Looks like you had a great time, Hats off to Mr. Relish for going with you. Love the quilts and great picks on your gathering of stuff! I want to hear about the soft and stable when you get a chance to make something with it.
ReplyDeleteThanks Debbie! It was a ton of fun! I'm really excited about the soft and sable. I even got to talk to Annie, the creator. I'll definitely post about it when I make one of the patterns I bought from her. :)
Deletethe men's lounge is hilarious! sounds like you took good care of mr relish yourself, though. I told my husband next year he should go visit his office in Houston and i'll go to quilt festival. win-win. he's a keeper, but would not go along or carry my bags.
ReplyDeletethat VFW wedding ring quilt is amazing! the others, too, but i'm especially liking that one.
Yes, he is a keeper and was a total trooper the whole time! I fed him well and that always helps. Lol. I really love the wedding ring quilt, too! I hope to make one someday. Thanks for visiting and sticking through my loooong post. ;)
DeleteSo fun! Thanks for sharing pictures of your trip :-)
ReplyDeleteSo happy to share and glad you enjoyed! :) Thanks for stopping by!
Deletecan see you had a wonderful time, started so well in that lovely B & B what a very pretty place. Envious how I would love the EQ7 maybe one day! think I need to be a bit more computer literate first. So many goodies that will remind you of your lovely weekend away with your hubby.
ReplyDeleteyes, we really did enjoy ourselves! cant wait to go back to visit that cute b&b! I should be getting my EQ7 in the mail any day now and excited and nervous about learning a new software. Ill let everyone know what I think soon! Thanks so much for visiting! Talk to you soon I'm sure!
DeleteThat B&B looks so fancy! What a nice place, and a nice weekend! Those quilts...oh my gosh...I didn't even know you could do quilts like that. I like the boy and his dog one. I would love to know how heavy it is and to see it up close. Glad you had such a wonderful time!
ReplyDeleteHEEEEEEY! Happy to see you! Yes, the B&B was a bit fancy but we got a great deal and was cheaper than most of the other hotels in the area. Crazy! Those quilts were amazing, let me tell you! So much thread used in them! I might have to give a mini version a try someday. Thanks for stopping by and visiting. Missed seeing your little face on my comments! ;)
DeleteOh my, you totally got some good loot there!!! I love my seam fix ripper and that Simplify is so tasty looking:) I am going to have to get some here soon! Eq7 too, wow, hubby is a good quilt husband. Awesome trip for sure....just a little jealous. Thanks for sharing.
